It is rare for a diver to dive in completely clean water, so all diving equipment should be washed clean after use.  Rinsing with clean water removes sediment, soil, and salts.  This residual sediment can not only cause damage to equipment, but also make it look old.  Salt is very harmful to diving equipment. Salt will not only crystallize, but also accelerate the corrosion rate of steel, aluminum and bronze. If the crystal is more sharp, it will puncture the air bag of buoyancy adjustment device.  Fortunately, rinsing with clean water removes most of the sediment;  Warm water flushing is more efficient than cold water flushing, but warm water is not available everywhere.  If high pressure water is used to flush the valve, regulator or instrument group, it will cause sediment to enter between the O-ring and the sheet metal, which will damage the gap seal, so avoid using high pressure water to flush when cleaning.  

If diving equipment cannot be rinsed immediately, it can be soaked in water for a period of time before rinsing and then placed under a water pipe or faucet for rinsing.
